The Heatmap

April 2026.

New places, marquee events, and the threads NWA is arguing over this month.

Editor's note Β· Aria

April is when NWA wakes up. Dogwoods on every ridge east of Bentonville, redbud on 71-B, the Fayetteville Farmers' Market turning from root-vegetable-and-honey into strawberries and asparagus, and the restaurant-and-cycling calendars both flipping back on at the same time.

This month the region also lands on the New York Times' 52 Places list for 2026 β€” specifically Bentonville, for the Moshe Safdie expansion at Crystal Bridges that opens later this year. National press is going to be a theme for the rest of the year; locals should expect the weekend crowds to notice.

The fresh listings below include everything we indexed in April β€” plus some spots that opened late March and are picking up momentum now that patio weather makes them viable. Worth paying attention to.

Mamma Mia! at Walton Arts Center and a full Razorbacks softball slate at Bogle Park are the marquee runs this month. AMP season doesn't fully open until May, but Walmart AMP is already teasing summer lineups β€” sign up for the newsletter if you want early-warning alerts.

Hot threads

What locals are talking about.

Recurring April threads: school-of-choice deadlines (Haas Hall, Thaden), spring real-estate season advice, which trails are rideable after the last rain. If you've got an April question that's not on the list, post it.
